# Orchard > Orchard is an AI app builder that turns plain-English prompts into real native Swift/SwiftUI iPhone apps for TestFlight and the App Store, and iPhone + Android apps you can open on your phone in seconds. Site: https://orchapp.dev Maker: Orchard Apps (bootstrapped, founder-run) ## What it outputs Two ways to build, chosen when a project starts: - **iPhone app (native Swift):** compiled Swift/SwiftUI. Not Flutter, not a web view. The choice for AR, LiDAR, HealthKit, in-app purchases and the deepest iPhone features. - **iPhone + Android (React Native):** one React Native app with Expo that runs on both. Scan a QR code in the free Expo Go app and it opens on your phone in seconds, with the real camera, photos, sensors and AI. React Native draws real native screens; it is not a web wrapper. It covers most capabilities but not all (no AR, LiDAR, face tracking, widgets, in-app purchases or Sign in with Apple). - **A real Xcode project** per native Swift app, downloadable in full on paid plans. - **Published under the user's own Apple developer account**, not Orchard's. If Orchard disappeared, a published app keeps working and the source stays with its owner. - Builds go to **TestFlight** first, then the App Store. On paid plans, iPhone + Android apps also build for Android (an APK for testing and the file Google Play needs) and can upload to Google Play's internal testing track under the user's own Play developer account. ## Capabilities Native Swift apps can use the parts of the iPhone that need native code: - Camera (photo capture) and the **Vision** framework - **ARKit**, **LiDAR** depth scanning, and **body tracking** - **AI features**: no API keys for the user to obtain or pay for - Location, Photos, Haptics, local notifications - 2D and 3D games - HealthKit (read only) - A built-in cloud database, set up automatically: no account, no keys, no configuration iPhone + Android apps can use the camera and photo library, AI (chat, photo questions, image and short video generation), live body tracking (MediaPipe pose), maps and location, haptics and motion sensors, sound and video, animation and 3D, data on the phone or in the cloud, and email sign-in for the app's own users. ## What it is not - No macOS, watchOS, tvOS or Vision Pro builds. Android is available through the iPhone + Android option only; native Swift apps are iPhone and iPad. - Not a web wrapper. - **No revenue share and no platform take-rate.** Users keep 100% of what their apps earn. - Not a host: apps run on the App Store under the user's own developer account, not inside an Orchard container app. - Cannot do server-sent push notifications, widgets, Live Activities, NFC or Bluetooth, in either option. - Data stored in the built-in database is shared across everyone using that app; it is not partitioned per end user. ## Pricing - **Free**: one app, native Swift or iPhone + Android (one generation, one edit a day, three questions a day, three minutes of preview then two minutes a day) and one website - **Starter, $19/month**: 8M Orchard tokens - **Pro, $39/month**: 20M Orchard tokens - **Pro Max, $129/month**: 75M Orchard tokens Every plan also builds websites: describe one and Orchard designs, builds and hosts it. Paid plans build and edit apps and websites from the same monthly token budget. Paid plans are a monthly compute budget, not an unlimited allowance. Downloading the Xcode project, installing via Orchard Connect, TestFlight and App Store submission, and Android builds with Google Play internal testing for iPhone + Android apps, are included on every paid plan; the tiers differ on how many tokens you get. ## The $99 Apple developer account Not needed to run your own app on your own iPhone. A free Apple ID can sign an app onto a device you own. Free signing means 7-day certificates and three apps at a time. Apple's $99/year Developer Program is required for **distribution** (the App Store and TestFlight), not for building or for testing on your own hardware. On a paid plan, **Orchard Connect** (a desktop app in the project's Deploy tab; Windows today, Mac coming soon) installs a native Swift app onto the user's own iPhone in one flow: it signs on the user's computer with their own Apple ID, so no Apple Developer account is needed. Alternatively, paid users can download the full Xcode project and install it themselves via Xcode or a sideloading tool. ## Key pages - Home: https://orchapp.dev/ - Blog index: https://orchapp.dev/blog/ - Orchard vs Rork vs MWM AI (comparison): https://orchapp.dev/blog/orchard-vs-rork-vs-mwm/ - Will Apple reject an AI-generated app? The distinguishing facts: Orchard outputs native Swift on every tier including free, and also offers iPhone + Android in React Native with instant Expo Go previews; the user owns the code and publishes under their own Apple account; and Orchard takes no share of app revenue.
